    Greetings everyone,

I hope all of you are enjoying the beautiful weather we have been experiencing this summer. I would like to welcome you back to United Oaks for the 2018-2019 school year. The United Oaks staff has been busy preparing to greet your child on the first day of school. We are very excited about this year and hope you are too.

Our school year officially begins on Tuesday, August 28 at 12:30pm. Students will line up outside on the blacktop by the playground by class. Teachers will gather his/her students say a quick hello to parents and escort them into the build to begin the learning process. After school students will be picked up on the blacktop area as well. The first day of school we will be having a “Back to School” picnic on the blacktop area. Once you pick up your child, please feel free to get a hot dog, chips and a drink. We are asking for cookie donations from families. Please bring them to the food tables in the back of the building. Staff members will be around to mingle and meet parents.

After the first day of school, students can be dropped off in the student drop off area beginning 7:30am. Do not drop students off any earlier as the building is locked and there is no supervision for students. Latchkey is available to families who need to drop students off earlier than 7:30am. Our first bell rings at 8:05 am and students must be in classes by 8:10am. Students will be picked up on the blacktop by the playground. Teachers will escort students out to their area on the blacktop at 3:12pm. Students must let the teacher know they see their parent or pick up person, then they may walk to their parent in the waiting area. Respectfully, we ask that you stay in the parent waiting area and have your student come to you. If you have a teen picking up their brother or sister, please inform them of the procedures as well. This procedure was installed for the safety of all students.

You will have another opportunity to meet your child’s teacher on Thursday, September 13 @ 6:30pm during our Meet the Teacher event. I will be sharing important information regarding United Oaks. Teachers will be sharing information regarding our curriculum and classroom procedures and routines. They will be available to answer any questions your may have regarding the classroom.

The parent portal on MiSTAR will be opened on Monday, Aug. 20. Please check MiSTAR for your child’s placement.
