Hazel Park High School
Dear Hazel Park High School Families,
Welcome to the 2018-2019 school year. While it seems Summer Break has sped by, we have been quickly getting things around for your student’s arrival by building on the new things we introduced last school year. With expanding our Project Lead the Way courses, continuing our second year with more Advanced Placement Course offerings, and building upon the learning opportunities in our Literacy Room, we continue to strengthen academic opportunities for our students.
Last school year had some great traditions gain momentum through active parental involvement. The Class of 2018’s parent support group renewed the Senior All Night Party by being the driving force behind celebrating our graduating seniors’ last moments in high school. Another one of our parents spearheaded a Prom dress sale offering Prom dresses and shoes at greatly reduced rates so all of our students could experience the memory of attending a formal event. Lastly, watching how active our parents are with the band and athletic programs serves as a great reminder of the great memories, strong community support, and an “All In, All the Time” attitude we all share for our students.
We want to build upon last year’s parental involvement by inviting parents to become involved with their student’s class events. Please contact Dale Allensworth, Secretary to the Principal at (248) 658-5101 if you want to get involved with supporting your student’s class for Homecoming events, this fall’s Challenge Day, or by chaperoning future dances.
As we begin the 2018-2019 school year, we do so with a new Assistant Principal. Ken Milch joins our Viking team after having served as an administrator in Waterford and Lamphere high schools. With a music teaching background, Ken will bring a fresh perspective in his support of instruction within our building, with coordinating efforts within the Counseling Department, and working through discipline matters with our students. We not only welcome Ken to our building, but the Milch family as well.
We look forward to an exciting school year!
With students in mind,
